Show updates!
This is a busy month in the world of The Yellow Dress.
Last night we had the fifth in our on-going Lessons in Adventureneering show at Dog Eared Books, this month featuring Adam Balbo (www.myspace.com/adambalbo) and Dr Popular (www.doctorpopular.com), who in addition to incredible Yo Yo skills on display last night also plays music that is well worth checking out as Drown Radio (www.myspace.com/drownradio). Also we played a set featuring new songs, a full band, and my rapidly declining health and voice.
Next week (we’ll be playing a couple of songs at the official pre-launch party for Stephen Elliott’s new website The Rumpus (www.therumpus.net). The event is at the Make-Out Room (located at 22nd and Mission), starts at 7, and will feature comedy by Margaret Cho, readings by Daniel Handler (aka lemony snicket, aka official member of the magnetic fields, aka totally awesome dude), Jerry Stahl (the creator of Alf!), Ali Leibegott, and Lorelei Lee, and the stripper burlesque of Mariel Ala Mode. We have no idea what we are doing on this bill, it is going to be amazing. tickets are 12-25 sliding scale.
The following Weds (the 21st)we’ll be showing JJ Schultz’ Beer Drinkin Acoustic Night at the Hotel Utah (www.hotelutah.com), along with folksmith Lorenzo Levinger and the classical piano stylings of Steve Arnsten. The doors open at 8:30 and tickets are 5 bucks.
Then on Friday the 23rd we’ll be playing a benefit show at the Queen Nail’s Annex (http://www.queensnailsannex.com/). I’ll be putting up more details on that once I have them.
